Do something to each of them. I used to ask two questions to each player in the training session. What do you like best about the game? And what's your favorite card? Now I teach them how to think like a grid. We use all the same terminology in Grid, but I ask each player to tell me what the card they are looking at tells the game and what it tells us about the game. I do the same with the same examples. I ask each player to say what the card has given me about being in the game (it tells me the game's theme, its players, what each player can do that other player cannot, what the game's rules mean), and what that information tells me about this game's theme, rules, structure, and mechanics. Furthermore, I ask each player to show me something else they see.

Game notes. A final question or action for the athlete to learn the skill. Â It takes a bit of time and thought to make sure that the skill is properly practiced in a small-sided activity or is being developed in an expanded small-sided activity. I use this activity to ensure that the athlete is practicing specific skills with little to no opportunity for error. The small-sided activity is the only way to ensure that you are not only teaching the skill, but you are also helping the athlete develop a method of doing it. If you find that you are constantly having problems with the athlete not making the skill appear, then it is more likely you can use that small sided activity and/or a different training session to begin to build the skill. Use a time control, so they don't get overwhelmed by trying to finish the small-sided activity.
